Missions (John 12:24)

Local Missions:  Orange Friends Church strives to serve our community in practical ways to show the love of Christ to others.  This is a major part of being a disciple of Christ.  Below are some areas in which we serve others.

Faith Mission Homeless Shelter:  Our team serves a meal to families and single women at Faith Mission each month, and four times a year, we provide the meal as well.  We often interact and pray with the families and women during the meal.  We serve at Faith Mission from 5:00 to 6:15 PM on the fourth Sunday of every month.

Short-term Mission Trips:  We have gone on a variety of short-term mission trips.  In 2009 and 2011, we sent a team of adults and students to serve in Kentucky with SWAP (Sharing With Appalachian People).

Salvation Army:  The church has a non-perishable food drive on behalf of the Salvation Army each year and we often provide mittens and hats for families they serve as well.

Fundraisers:  Each year we try to help in the financial needs of local organizations. The Pregnancy Decision Help Center and C.R.A.C.K. House Ministries are two ministries we support through fundraising efforts.

Events:  Each fall we enjoy our men’s and women’s retreats, both of which have a missions focus, and each October we host a Taste of Missions event where we highlight local and global mission organizations.

World Missions:  World missions are supported through the Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region mission board and the Evangelical Friends Mission. Our purpose in missions throughout the world is to share the love, wholeness, and hope of Jesus Christ.  This is fulfilling what Jesus gave us in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to go into all the world and make disciples. Our missionaries are the hands and feet of Jesus to many cultures throughout the world.  Check out the websites for Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region Missionaries and for Evangelical Friends Mission.

Here are 4 things you can do with both, local and global missions:

  1. Get Informed:  Check out the websites for the agencies and missionaries mentioned above.

  1. Pray for missions efforts.

  1. Give generously to support the work of Jesus Christ through Evangelical Friends throughout the world.

  1. Go!  Maybe God is asking you to be His hands and feet somewhere in the world.  Contact a staff person or Elder for more information about short-term trip opportunities or about how to become a missionary.
